Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation’s Lyle Roggow and Jeannie Bowden, along with Jessika Leatherbury of Community Matters LLC are presented a Silver Excellence in Economic Development Award from the International Economic Development Council.
The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) awarded Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation (DAEDF) with a Silver Excellence In Economic Development Award for the organization’s annual newsletter.
DAEDF won for the 2015 annual newsletter in a category for communities with populations of less than 25,000, according to a press release.
On behalf of the IEDC board of directors and Excellence in Economic Development Awards Advisory Committee, congratulations to DAEDF. Not only did they work to provide a necessary service to their community; but also, their participation in the awards program sheds light on their stellar projects which other communities can now use as a benchmark.” said Barry Matherly, CEcD, FM, IEDC 2016 Board Chair, President & CEO of the Greater Richmond Partnership.
According to IEDC, the Excellence in Economic Development Awards is used to “recognize the world’s best economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials and the year’s most influential leaders. These awards honor organizations and individuals for their efforts in creating positive change in urban, suburban and rural communities.”
“It is an honor to receive recognition from an International organization like IEDC and be evaluated among so many other cities across the country,” said DAEDF President Lyle Roggow, “This recognition is valuable in raising awareness of Duncan among our peers in the economic development field, media, and companies looking to expand or relocate.”
According to DAEDF, the organization’s annual newsletter “is a multi-page mailer utilized to inform the community about activities and accomplishments made during the past year.”
DAEDF, a stand-alone entity, partners with other local organizations and uses the mailer to “report measures successes and provides accountability to the community” while providing community members with a “glimpse of future projects that the organization is working toward.”
