Kochendorfer Brewing Company hosted a ribbon cutting for the grand opening of the new business, which is located at 1155 McCurd Rd, Duncan.
A much anticipated — and first of its kind to the area — business officially opened its doors Saturday at 1 p.m. with a grand opening celebration.
Kochendorfer Brewing Company, which hosted a VIP event for family and friends Friday, celebrated its grand opening with Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation (DAEDF) and the Duncan Chamber of Commerce.
Chris Kochendorfer, who owns the brewery with his wife, Laura, and Kathryn and Lenny Cripps, welcomed the audience to the new facility, which features an outdoor patio sporting heaters and playground equipment as well as walking trails, and of course, the tap room.
“We feel that we have a great product,” Chris Kochendorfer said. “We’re ready for you to experience what we’ve been doing the last year. Welcome and thank you for this opportunity to have everybody here. We are really excited to have you guys and show the community what we believe is going to be a great gathering place for everybody to enjoy themselves.”
Lyle Roggow, President and CEO for DAEDF, said the brewery will serve as a community connecting point.
“This has been a tremendous partnership,” Roggow said. “It has been a project that has taken us a lot of time, effort, patience to get to this point today but I think … this is a place where people will gather within our community, this is a place we’ll see young and old kindle opportunities as far as being able to do business, have retreats here.”
Roggow said the brewery will serve as a “critical piece to our community.”
“Lenny had been brewing for roughly 30 years and we’re going to get the opportunity to see the quality product he has made and perfected over that time,” Roggow said.
Chris Deal, Duncan Chamber of Commerce President, said with projects like this, it's about the relationships that make it work.
“This is really a community of culture and the story today is one of friendship and love of community and relationships,” Deal said.
After the ribbon cutting, the event featured a variety of food trucks, some of which based their menu off of the Kochendorfer beer selection, and The Chance Anderson Band took to the stage around 6 p.m.
Right now, the brew menu includes the company’s cider, Irish Red, Hefeweizen, stout, IPA, cream ale and of course, pale ale.
