Three entities banded together to prove to residents in Stephens County there’s still hope, especially when it comes to searching for employment as the news of layoffs becomes recurrent.

First Baptist Marlow, Connection Church Duncan and the Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation will open house to employers and companies across the state in an attempt to locate jobs for those who are without in our county.

According to a press release from DAEDF, energy sector downturn and oil and gas companies tightening ship has led to numbers estimating “in excess of 1,300 individuals in Stephens County being unemployed or underemployed.”

Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church Marlow Joe Ligon said employers from across the state and region are invited to the job fair to seek out talented individuals to join their forces.

“Stephens County has wonderful families that are feeling the impact of losing their primary source of income,” Ligon said.   “With highly skilled welders, machinists, assemblers, production technicians, engineers, managers, supervisors, and so many others, the There’s Hope Job Fair is meant to help make the connection for employers and employees.”

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, the public, along with employers, are welcomed to attend “There’s Hope – Stephens County Job Fair” at First Baptist Marlow, located at 213 N. Broadway, Marlow.

Employers who are interested in recruitment do not pay to participate, and those running the function will make available tables, chairs and interview space.
