DUNCAN, OKLAHOMA - The Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation (DAEDF) hosted this year's Duncan Area Youth Engineering Contest for 7th-12th grade students in the Red River Technology Center sending school district on Tuesday, November 17, with students winning $4,175 in combined prize money.
Students competed for monetary awards in the areas of engineering, the fastest CO2 race car, overall, and people's choice.
"Although it seems like 'just a fun race', through this event we are developing our future workforce, all while helping students identify a career path," stated Lyle Roggow, DAEDF President and CEO. "We are so thankful for the support from area educators and employers and for them being our tireless partners."
This year's participants came from Red River Technology Center (RRTC), Duncan, Marlow, and Walters.
The contest is challenging for students, teachers, and parents. It requires critical thinking, design, drafting, and manufacturing a CO2 race car. This contest is possible because of DAEDF's partnership with local businesses, middle schools, high schools, and Red River Technology Center.
